For those who don't know, Rudy Ray Moore was an important figure in the Blaxploitation films with his incredible trio of films in the '70s where he played uber-pimp, Dolemite. He talked in rhyme, was a complete bad-ass, and champion of heart-of-gold-and-iron pimps everywhere. The these films were Dolemite, The Human Tornado, and Disco Godfather. He died of complications from diabetes.
MadTV did a series of hysterical spoofs of Dolemite (and his pimp cane), portrayed by Ayries Spears.
The one time I met in about 10 years ago, he was very nice and giving, and a pleasure to talk to.
